So, for some reason, the league is still deciding to have a week 6 even though the Raiders aren't playing. I'm as confused as you surely are!
so here are the picks :)
You know, thinking about it, the schedule complications created from COVID has actually added a degree of intrigue for the confidence pool.
If you are anywhere but first in your season long pool, obviously you need points (that’s not the new part). Throughout the week, we will hear about practice facilities being shut down due to positive tests. When you hear that, red flags are thrown up regarding that teams scheduled game for that week.
You have to keep this in mind when filling out your sheet. For example, with the fiasco the Titans went through, you may have wanted to drop their game down a few lines in the event that the game gets canceled after your picks are submitted. Game gets cancelled – you lose the chance at points! Better to lose out on gaining 5 points than gaining 10 points.
That being said, let’s keep it rolling!
Week 6 – HERE WE GO!!!!
(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)
14 – NEW ENGLAND over Denver – If Cam is ready to go this is a cinch. If he’s not, well, its still a pretty game to call.
13 – MIAMI over New York Jets – Speaking of easy games to call – the Jets are playing someone!
12 – INDIANAPOLIS over Cincinnati – All signs point to this game happening, so the Colts will have a chance to easily get back on track.
11 – MINNESOTA over Atlanta – I mean, the Falcons…I know Dan Quinn is out now…but…why have confidence in them?
10 – TENNESSEE over Houston – The Titans made a big statement against the Bills last week and should be able to further their hold in the AFC South this week.
9 – JACKSONVILLE over Detroit – The Lions have a lot of work to do, that’s for sure.
8 – PITTSBURGH over Cleveland – The Browns and Bears (as we’ll see a little later)...are both 4-1…don’t believe in either of them.
7 – Los Angeles Rams over SAN FRANCISCO – It looks like the Super Bowl Loser Curse is definitely a thing this year.
6 – Green Bay over TAMPA BAY – If you can score a lot of points, you can beat the Bucs – the Packers are more than capable of that.
5 – CAROLINA over Chicago – Remember what I said earlier, well, my BOLD PREDICTION for this week is that BOTH THE BROWNS AND BEARS WILL MISS THE PLAYOFFS.
4 – BUFFALO over Kansas City – Remember in Rocky IV when Drago got cut and showed he can be beat, well the league should thank the Raiders for the right cross they gave KC last week!
3 – PHILADELPHIA over Baltimore – Pure hunch…puuurrrrreeeee hunch!
2 – Arizona over DALLAS – Kyler gets to shine on the Monday Night stage for the first time and won’t waste the opportunity.
1 – NEW YORK GIANTS over Washington – Congrats, city of New York! It takes a home game against a team that doesn’t even have a nickname to get your first win between your two teams!
This week may be the first week in which there are several games that are seemingly too close to call. Sure you still have games like the Chiefs/Broncos and the Jets don’t have a bye week so there’s that. But get a few lines down, and you could make a case for every remaining game to be on every remaining line.
It’s week like this that we need to be on our game! Strong results in tough weeks mean further separation for us from the rest of the pack in your yearlong pool.
So let’s get at it!
Week 7 – HERE WE GO!!!!
(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)
14 – Buffalo over NEW YORK JETS – It takes a special scenario to have a road team on our top line and the Jets are pretty special this year. But it’s just the top line, it’s not like the top TWO lines are road teams…
13 – Kansas City over DENVER – …wait a minute. OK I know Denver beat the Pats last week but they have to deal with a Chiefs team that now doesn’t take divisional games for granted.
12 – LOS ANGELES CHARGERS over Jacksonville – I would like to thank the Jaguars for helping keeping my one-win prediction alive and well!
11 – LOS ANGELES RAMS over Chicago – I have been on the Bears case pretty much all season. If they can win in LA, I will officially consider them a contender.
10 – NEW ORLEANS over Carolina – Reports are coming out that Michael Thomas may not be playing in this one either. If he doesn’t, feel free to drop the Saints a few lines.
9 – PHILADELPHIA over New York Giants – Oh the NFC East. My BOLD PREDICTION for this week is that THE EAGLES WILL WIN THE NFC EAST…WITH ONLY SIX WINS.
8 – Seattle over ARIZONA – This is where games get really hard to rank. The Cardinals could pull this out but the Seahawks look pretty strong.
7 – Green Bay over HOUSTON – Rodgers and the boys will have a lot to prove after their embarrassing performance in Tampa last week.
6 – TENNESSEE over Pittsburgh – Derrick Henry vs the Steelers defense is the proverbial “irresistible force meeting the immovable object” and should provide a fantastic game!
5 – Tampa Bay over LAS VEGAS – I’ve been a Raiders fan long enough to know that winning two big games in a row just doesn’t happen.
4 – Cleveland over CINCINNATI – The battle of Ohio…is probably exciting for those in Ohio…probably.
3 – NEW ENGLAND over San Francisco – If ever there was a game involving two teams that desperately need a win.
2 – Detroit over ATLANTA – The Falcons won last week…doesn’t mean that we have to have any sort of confidence in them.
1 – Dallas over WASHINGTON – Depending on how the Giants/Eagles game goes, one of these teams could be in first place…just let that sink in.
We’re creeping up on the halfway point of the season already! Why is it that 2020 is moving along at a snail’s pace yet the football season seems to be going at light speed? Time is a jerk!
Well, that just means that we can’t have a bad week! We haven’t had one yet this year so let’s keep it going!
Week 8 – HERE WE GO!!!!
(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)
14 – KANSAS CITY over New York Jets – This is the game on the top line this week…and would probably be on the top line if we ranked every game this year.
13 – GREEN BAY over Minnesota – Last time these two played I said it would be a battle for division supremacy – now in Minnesota it’s a battle for Mike Zimmer to keep his job.
12 – BUFFALO over New England – It’s just fun to see the Patriots this high on the sheet…but on the wrong side.
11 – Tennessee over CINCINNATI – It’s going to be rough for Burrow’s Boys to handle this Titans team coming off a loss for the first time this year.
10 – CAROLINA over Atlanta – To sum up the Falcons this year, even a late Todd Gurley touchdown cost them the game last week!
9 – Tampa Bay over NEW YORK GIANTS – For some reason, the Giants are hosting a second Monday Night game – and this should go about as “good” as the last one where they also hosted a Super Bowl contender.
8 – SEATTLE over San Francisco – If ever there was a division where winning games against the division meant something! My BOLD PREDICTION for this week is that THE ENTIRE NFC WEST WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.
7 – Los Angeles Rams over MIAMI – I have a feeling that Tua will try to do too much against a tough defense in his debut.
6 – Los Angeles Chargers over DENVER – This should be another week for Justin Herbert to solidify his spot as the top rookie of this class.
5 – PHILADELPHIA over Dallas – Not to get political or anything, but with the state that this country is in right now, I think it still makes sense to call the Cowboys “America’s Team”.
4 – New Orleans over CHICAGO – The Bears are in a stretch of their schedule that will probably knock them out of the playoff picture.
3 – Las Vegas over CLEVELAND – Defenses be damned, it will be a high scoring affair.
2 – BALTIMORE over Pittsburgh – Whichever team you want to back in this one, keep it low. This Game of the Week is a coin toss.
1 – DETROIT over Indianapolis – We’ll just call this the home team hunch of the week.
Football! Football! For the love of God after the week this country has had – FOOTBALL!!
Election Day has seemingly turned into Groundhog Day with no end in sight. Leave it to football to give us all an escape we so desperately need!
So let’s not waste any more time!
Week 9 – HERE WE GO!!!!
(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)
14 – KANSAS CITY over Carolina – Looks like Run CMC might be back in the Panthers backfield…unfortunately it will be in a week where need more than just him.
13 – TENNESSEE over Chicago – The Titans took a step back in Cincinnati last week. They should have no problem using the Bears to reassert their dominant impression.
12 – Pittsburgh over DALLAS – This…this could get ugly!
11 – GREEN BAY over San Francisco – I was excited about the possibility of actually having a solid Thursday Night Football matchup – that was before we knew the 9ers would be playing their 4th string.
10 – TAMPA BAY over New Orleans – These are not the same teams that played each other in week 1.
9 – ARIZONA over Miami – The Dolphins defense used up their one good game a year card last week and won't be able to handle Kyler.
8 – Houston over JACKSONVILLE – Houston has been struggling but at least they get to play against Jacksonville QB…um…named…anyway Texans win.
7 – MINNESOTA over Detroit – As long as Kirk Cousins doesn’t have to win a game, the Vikings have a chance. My BOLD PREDICTION for this week is that KIRK COUSINS WILL NOT BE THE QUARTERBACK OF THE VIKIGNS NEXT YEAR.
6 – Las Vegas over LOS ANGELES CHARGERS – Some may look at this and say that the Raiders this high is just a fan pick…well to that I say…yeah probably.
5 – Baltimore over INDIANAPOLIS – This is a tough one to call but I think Lamar will want to have a huge game after the Pittsburgh loss.
4 – WASHINGTON over New York Giants – NFC East teams are playing each other – pick the home team and walk away.
3 – ATLANTA over Denver – This was a Super Bowl matchup years ago…that’s about all the excitement I can get for this one.
2 – BUFFALO over Seattle – Seahawk losses will come few and far between this year – the Bills seem to have enough to be one of those few.
1 – New England over NEW YORK JETS – I can actually see the Jets win this game…this is where the Patriots are right now.
