I’ve been following sports and wrestling since I can remember. Not too much, aside from my family, gives me as much joy as watching my Raiders, Blackhawks, Bulls, White Sox or WWE. Add in some honey Jack to sip on and that’s the equation for a perfect evening!
OK…so…about last week…
Well, now seems like a good idea to remind everyone that most season-long pools will allow you to remove your lowest scoring week from the total amount.
I didn’t really think we would have to look into that feature less than a quarter of the way into the season…but here we are!
Ah well, time to get back on that horse!
Week 4 – HERE WE GO!!!!
(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)
16 – SAN FRANCISCO over New England – The 9ers could use a bit of a break to rest some injuries – playing the Patriots will provide that.
15 – HOUSTON over Jacksonville – Change is coming in Florida. My BOLD PREDICTION for this week is that DOUG PEDERSON WILL BE THE FIRST COACH FIRED THIS YEAR.
14 – NEW YORK JETS over Denver – The Broncos used up all of there energy in Tampa last week.
13 – Kansas City over LOS ANGELES CHARGERS – The Chiefs are playing a game against a divisional opponent – we all know how this goes.
12 – DETROIT over Seattle – Thank God there are two Monday Night Games again this week …
11 – MIAMI over Tennessee – …because this would have been our only option…eesh!
10 – INDIANAPOLIS over Pittsburgh – It’s only a matter of time that the undefeated stretch for the Steelers ends…and that time is about noon central time on Sunday.
9 – BALTIMORE over Buffalo – This game being this high on our list just shows how close the games are going to be this week.
8 – CHICAGO over Los Angeles Rams – Imagine what Caleb Williams could do with a line that could even block a phone call.
7 – TAMPA BAY over Philadelphia – Look for the Bucs to bounce back after last week’s drubbing.
6 – ARIZONA over Washington – Jayden vs Kyler just seems like it will be fun to watch.
5 – ATLANTA over New Orleans – Hopefully the Falcons will have a new set of refs for this game.
4 – Minnesota over GREEN BAY – Who knew this would be an NFC North matchup to be excited about?
3 – CAROLINA over Cincinnati – Andy Dalton for MVP?
2 – Cleveland over LAS VEGAS - If you lose at home to the Panthers, you don’t get to win this week.
1 – NEW YORK GIANTS over Dallas – Just seems like one of the games that Daniel Jones’ could take over…but keep it on the one-point line
Oh this is going to be a fun week!
To clarify, this will be a “fun” week.
This is the kind of week where season-long confidence pool participants are separated. Once we get past the first few lines, nearly every other game is a crap shoot!
My best to those who have to make picks for a survival pool this week.
We’re not worried about that here though so let’s get some confidence!
Week 3 – HERE WE GO!!!!
(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)
16 – TAMPA BAY over Denver – Seems like this is the season that Baker Mayfield has been waiting for!
15 – LAS VEGAS over Carolina – With how the Raiders looked last week, benching Bryce Young means this game is on the 15 point line, not the 16. My BOLD PREDICTION for this season is that THE RAIDERS WILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS
14 – NEW YORK JETS over New England – Aaron Rodgers big New York home opener Jets debut! … … … take two!
13 – CLEVELAND over New York Giants – Daniel Jones got is one win for the quarter last week.
12 – Kansas City over ATLANTA – Normally I would mistakenly have faith in the Falcons after a big road win – they won’t trick me this time!
11 – CINCINNATI over Washington – If this misses, it will be the last you see the Bengals this high this season.
10 – PITTSBURGH over Los Angeles Chargers – Can’t play the Panthers every week!
9 – BUFFALO over Jacksonville – Rumors of the Bills demise might have been greatly exaggerated.
8 – Houston over MINNESOTA – It’s been a good story in Minnesota so far, but not good enough to slow down Houston.
7 – NEW ORLEANS over Philadelphia – The Saints are going to be a fun team to watch this year for sure.
6 – INDIANAPOLIS over Chicago – It’s a long season Bears fans, hang in there!
5 – Detroit over ARIZONA – This could easily be a wrong pick depending on the Kyler Murray that shows up.
4 – DALLAS over Baltimore – Both these teams are going to play pretty desperate after last week.
3 – LOS ANGELES RAMS over San Francisco – Brock Purdy is playing…Matthew Stafford is playing … after that I’m not that sure!
2 – SEATTLE over Miami – We’ll need a week of seeing Skylar Thompson before picking the Dolphins to win.
1 – TENNESSEE over Green Bay – If Jordan Love does play then this pick switches to the Packers, but keep it on this line.
Just one week into the season and we have already seen a lot!
But do we really KNOW anything based off of one week? As you’ll see in this week’s picks, no, not really! Don’t forget that just a couple years ago the Jaguars upset the Colts in week 1 and created a bit of a hype train for themselves!
…they proceeded to finish the season 1-15. Week 1 isn’t the end all-be all of the season.
So let’s get back to the games!
Week 2 – HERE WE GO!!!!
(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)
16 – PHILADEPHIA over Atlanta – Seems like another season of disappointment headed to Atlanta this year.
15 – BALTIMORE over Las Vegas – (looks at my watch patiently waiting for Aiden O’Connell to take over for the Raiders)
14 – WASHINGTON over New York Giants – So we’re just gonna add Benny Hill music in the background of any time the Giants are on offense, right?
13 – DALLAS over New Orleans – The Cowboys are playing angry and will be a force to be reckoned with … you know … until the playoffs.
12 – KANSAS CITY over Cincinnati – If you lose at home to the Patriots, you’re not allowed to beat the Chiefs in Kansas City.
11 – HOUSTON over Chicago – Hopefully CJ Stroud can show Caleb Williams how to succeed as a rookie quarterback.
10 – Los Angeles Chargers over CAROLINA – Whoever is playing Carolina this season will be the best option for a fantasy football defense.
9 – DETROIT over Tampa Bay – Baker Mayfield is on fire…for one week
8 – JACKSONVILLE over Cleveland – Buyers remorse? My BOLD PREDICTION for this week is that DESHAUN WATSON WILL BE BENCHED BY WEEK 12.
7 – MIAMI over Buffalo – Sooooo many Miami PD jokes just speeding through my hea…ope, just got slammed to the street by the Miami PD!
6 – Seattle over NEW ENGLAND – The big win last week made me, well, not put a Patriots loss higher on this list.
5 – San Francisco over MINNESOTA – Can anyone deny the validity of the Madden Curse anymore?
4 – TENNESSEE over New York Jets – I repeat, the Jets are overrated!
3 – ARIZONA over Los Angeles Rams – I, for one, would be excited if Marvin Harrison Jr. were on my team. To each their own though … apparently.
2 – Indianapolis over GREEN BAY – The Colts catch a break with Jordan Love going down last week.
1 – Pittsburgh over DENVER – This will be ugly – take the under.
Folk, give yourselves a round of applause! We all did it!!
We have all gotten through the pain and torment that is the annual six to seven month period of our lives that does NOT include football!
Yes, we got a small taste of football with a full college schedule this past weekend. But, I mean, come on! There’s nothing like a full Sunday of the NFL.
I don’t know about you, but I’d say that it’s been LONG enough, let’s get back at it!
Week 1 – HERE WE GO!!!!
(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)
16 – NEW ORLEANS over Carolina – Well Panthers fans, at least after this miserable season, you’ll still have your first round pick to look forward to!
15 – CINCINNATI over New England – The Patriots have nothing around the quarterback right now – its smart to sit Drake Maye until they can get him some help. My BOLD PREDICTION for this week is that once the season ends…THE PATRIOTS WILL BE ON THE CLOCK WITH THE FIRST PICK IN THE DRAFT.
14 – BUFFALO over ARIZONA – With everyone that was lost over the off-season, this could be the make or break season for Josh Allen’s career.
13 – MIAMI over Jacksonville – Take the over on this one!
12 – SAN FRANCISCO over New York Jets – I’m not buying the Jets hype at all. They’ll comfortably finish third in the AFC East.
11 – SEATTLE over Denver – Well at least the Broncos were able to get away from Russell Wilson …
10 – ATLANTA over Pittsburgh – …well unfortunately the Steelers were not able to get away from Russell Wilson.
9 – KANSAS CITY over Baltimore – Hard to see the Chiefs making the same Thursday Night home opener mistake that they made last season.
8 – CHICAGO over Tennessee – I am fully on board the Bears hype train. No Super Bowl yet, but improvement and maybe even the playoffs.
7 – DETROIT over Los Angeles Rams – We are going into a season where the Lions are expected to make the playoffs … this is weird!
6 – Green Bay over PHILADELPHIA – Why can’t we just get an extended period of the Packers not having a potential MVP candidate quarterback??
5 – Las Vegas over LOS ANGELES CHARGERS – The Raiders put up 63 points on the Chargers the last time they played – maybe brining in Jim Harbaugh will be able to keep that number in the low 40s this time around.
4 – Houston over INDIANAPOLIS – This time last year I made a comment about how rough a year the Texans were going to have last season … … … I’d like to apologize.
3 – Dallas over CLEVELAND – This just seems like one of those games you expect the Cowboys to blow but escape with a win somehow.
2 – WASHIGNTON over TAMPA BAY – The Texans last year made a huge jump behind the play of their rookie quarterback – that will sound familiar this year.
1 – NEW YORK GIANTS over Minnesota – Another year of keeping the Giants on the one-point line if you think they are going to win.
