Fantasy football strategy, rankings, and podcasts

8/26/14, Bradford Blues, AFC/NFC East, Deerly Departed

This week we're joined by our good buddy Mike Mocerino for some talk about the NFC and AFC East. We had quite a bit to drink, including some Johnnie Walker, Civilized Bourbon, Furry Black IPA and some Horny Goat.

Since we had a guest on, it was a great time to make a rather epic bet. We had a disagreement over the value of Zach Ertz and Heath Miller, so Dave and Mike took Miller in standard scoring, and I've got Ertz. The losers have to buy the jersey of the winning player and wear it in some sort of shaming ceremony, probably. I'm not so sure about that last part, but the jersey thing is happening!

So we finished our project to go over every fantasy relevant player in the league. This week was the East divisions of the NFC and AFC. We also were able to go over the most recent episode of The Leftovers. That show is off next week, and we will likely be spinning off any future TV/etc talk into a different show. Stay tuned!

9/02/14, Deeper Down the Rabbit Hole

It’s almost time! The season starts this Sunday and we were finally able to preview a week, instead of just talking about ADP’s and draft positions and all of that stuff that doesn’t matter now until next August. This week we enjoyed a couple beers from our favorite local brewery, Two Brothers, as well as some Hopdinger from O’so in Wisconsin.

This week we rolled with Wes Welker, who has found a way to give himself some extra time to recover from his most recent concussion. We broke down some of the rookie QB’s, talked about some other players you might want to pick up, especially for their week 1 matchups.

Finally, we discussed the future of our TV podcast. We will be splitting that off so we have time to get into both football and TV without cutting either short. Stay tuned!

8/12/14, Preseason News, The West, The Bridge

This week we’re joined for the first time by our buddy and drinkfive writer Matt Cochrane. We enjoyed some leftover Two Brothers beers from this past weekend’s draft. We also featured the music of Frank Zappa tonight, mostly because he’s just a badass.

On to more important things, like football finally being back! We talked about a couple of things that we learned from the first week of preseason games. Yes, it’s very underwhelming, but at least it’s football. The real stuff is coming soon.

We’re now halfway through our attempt to preview every single fantasy relevant player. This week we covered the West divisions. We’ll be doing either the South or East next week, we haven’t decided yet. We also made it to the most recent episode of 'The Leftovers'. Be sure to check out Dave's review here.

9/16/14, Fantasy Apocalypse, Waiver Wire Wonders

Avast, ye mateys. We're sailing fer Fantasy Island. Yea, I've got no more pirate lingo for you, but I just HAD to use this awesome picture of Giovani Bernarrrrrrrd that Dave put together for one of my fantasy teams. I needed a replacement after Purple Jesus's fall from the league and my team's moniker.

Anyways, back to the podcast. During the show, we enjoyed a Maharaja courtesy of Dave's chili cook-off win and had more than a little Glen Grant Single Malt Scotch Whiskey. All in all, it was a wetter show than normal.

This week, we broke down some of the upsets from last week, talked about the major injuries from week 2. Spoiler alert, this took a little while to get through. Finally, we broke down a couple of games coming up in week 3. I even made a bold bet that the Giants will beat the Texans at home this week. Loser buys beers for the show next week.
