I’ve been following sports and wrestling since I can remember. Not too much, aside from my family, gives me as much joy as watching my Raiders, Blackhawks, Bulls, White Sox or WWE. Add in some honey Jack to sip on and that’s the equation for a perfect evening!
And what a difference a week makes!
Last week, we had a decent amount of games that were sure fire picks. This week, we have a LOT more games that are pick’em’s to say the least!
Well, last week a few too many “sure fire’s” were apparently not that sure a thing…maybe more toss-up’s will mean more correct picks this week!
Week 4 – HERE WE GO!!!!
(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)
16 – SAN FRANCISCO over Arizona – When you are a team that looks unbeatable, a home game against the Cardinals is not necessarily something to be worried about.
15 – Kansas City over NEW YORK JETS – Aaron Rodgers being replaced on this Sunday Night Football broadcast by Taylor Swift probably won’t help the Jets too much.
14 – DALLAS over New England – Losing to Arizona last week only upset the Cowboys defense. My BOLD PREDICTION for this week is that THE COWBOYS DEFENSE WILL SHUTOUT THE PATRIOTS WITH AT LEAST FIVE SACKS, TWO ITERCEPTIONS, A FUMBLE RECOVERY.
13 – PHILADELPHIA over Washington – I said the Eagles were going to be better than they were last year … I was right.
12 – LOS ANGELES CHARGERS over Las Vegas – I can verify that Raiders fans are already looking at 2024 Mock Drafts.
11 – NEW YORK GIANTS over Seattle – The Giants still win if Saquon doesn’t play here…but drop them down below the five point line
10 – Baltimore over CLEVELAND – Take the over on this one.
9 – Minnesota over CAROLINA – I just can’t see the Vikings starting the season 0-4…can you?
8 – GREEN BAY over Detroit – It will be interesting to see how Jordan Love responds to the national spotlight.
7 – INDIANAPOLIS over Los Angeles Rams – Id’ say drop the Colts down a few if Richardson doesn’t play again…but it didn’t seem to matter last week.
6 – BUFFALO over Miami – This is just going to be fun to watch!
5 – NEW ORLEANS over Tampa Bay – I’m not saying that Jameis Winston went to the locker room kicking Derek Carr so he could play against Tampa this week … buuuut I’m not NOT saying it either.
4 – HOUSTON over Pittsburgh – I feel legally and morally obligated to pick Houston to win after picking them to lose in the 16 point slot last week.
3 – Atlanta over JACKSONVILLE – And on that note, I feel the same about picking the Jags to lose after picking them to win in the 16 point slot last week.
2 – Cincinnati over TENNESSEE – This was a playoff matchup not too long ago…just gonna leave that there…
1 – CHICAGO over Denver – I don’t care who you pick, just keep it on this line – neither team deserves to be higher than the one point line
Oh this is going to be a fun week!
To clarify, this will be a “fun” week.
This is the kind of week where it looks like there are a decent amount of sure-fire picks…but you know we’ll see at least one upset. It’s football, we always do. All because some jerk once coined the phrase “Any Given Sunday.”
We’re not worried about that here though so let’s get some confidence!
Week 3 – HERE WE GO!!!!
(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)
16 – JACKSONVILLE over Houston – (embracing my inner-Billy Madison) I put the Jags on the 16 because I’ve never seen the Jags on the 16 and wanted to see the Jags on the 16,
15 – KANSAS CITY over Chicago – What in the holy hell is going on at Halas Hall???
14 – MIAMI over Denver – I trusted the Broncos last week…not making that mistake again anytime soon
13 – SAN FRANCISCO over New York Giants – No Saquon = no win…that simple
12 – SEATLLE over Carolina – Something clicked for the Seahawks last week and the Panthers don’t have what it takes to…um…unclick it…yeah that works
11 – Dallas over ARIZONA – The Cardinals have looked surprisingly competent running the NFC East Gauntlet so far…that comes to an abrupt stop this week
10 – BALTIMORE over Indianapolis – Anthony Richardson is looking impressive early in his career…just can’t find a way to stay in the game long enough for a win
9 – LAS VEGAS over Pittsburgh – The Steelers won’t be able to score multiple defensive TDs every week
8 – DETROIT over Atlanta – Who knew this time last year that this would be an intriguing, and probably fun, game to watch??
7 – CLEVELAND over Tennessee – As intriguing as that last game should be, that’s how boring this one should be
6 – MINNESOTA over Los Angeles Chargers – An 0-2 Kirk Cousins will be mad…you won’t like him when he’s mad! My BOLD PREDICTION for this week is that KIRK COUSINS WILL THROW FOR OVER 400 YARDS.
5 – GREEN BAY over New Orleans – The atmosphere of a Packers home opener will be too much for the Saints to handle
4 – CINCINNATI over Los Angeles Rams – All faith in the Bengals this year will be lost if they lose this one
3 – Buffalo over WASHINGTON – I don’t have nearly as much confidence on this one as I probably should
2 – NEW YORK JETS over New England – This is your weekly “Team X will win because they’re the home team”
1 – TAMPA BAY over Philadelphia – Hunch…pure hunch…hunches like this belong on the one point line
Just one week into the season and we have already seen a lot!
But do we really KNOW anything based off of one week? As you’ll see in this week’s picks, no, not really! Don’t forget that just a couple years ago the Jaguars upset the Colts in week 1 and created a bit of a hype train for themselves!
…they proceeded to finish the season 1-15. Week 1 isn’t the end all-be all of the season.
So let’s get back to the games!
Week 2 – HERE WE GO!!!!
(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)
16 – DALLAS over New York Jets – Wow, welcome back to reality Jets fans!
15 – DENVER over Washington – You don’t get to almost lose to the Cardinals at home one week and win on the road the next…even if it is against the Broncos.
14 – PHILADELPHIA over Minnesota – No I don’t think that last week showed the true Vikings, just bad timing that they are part of the Eagles’ home opener.
13 – DETROIT over Seattle – Asterisk or no asterisk, the Lions beat Patrick Mahomes in Arrowhead!
12 – PITTSBURGH over Cleveland – Sure this may seem a bit high, but I think last week was more about how good the 9ers are rather than the Steelers being bad.
11 – BUFFALO over Las Vegas – Safe to say the Bills have a lot of anger to take out on the Raiders this week.
10 – New Orleans over CAROLINA – It was a struggle for a team in the NFC South to finish above .500 last season…no real reason to think that will change this year.
9 – TAMPA BAY over Chicago – OK, maybe competing for the division title is at least another year away for these young Bears.
8 – CINCINNATI over Baltimore – I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Joe Burrow will hit triple digits in passing yards this week. That’s not even the Bold Prediction!
7 – Miami over NEW ENGLAND – HERE’S the Bold Prediction – my BOLD PREDICTION for the week is that with an off-season of Bills and Jets hype, THE DOLPHINS WILL WIN THE AFC EAST.
6 – New York Giants over ARIZONA – Keeping with the theme, I still believe the Giants are better than the 40-0 score from last week and can even beat the Cardinals.
5 – Los Angeles Chargers over TENNESSEE – The Titans just don’t have enough offensive firepower to keep up with the Chargers. Weird to say for an offense that includes Derrick Henry and DeAndre Hopkins.
4 – JACKSONVILLE over Kansas City – AFC Championship preview? In the same stadium?
3 – Indianapolis over HOUSTON – This game will happen … follow along if you want.
2 – LOS ANGELES RAMS over San Francisco – If the Rams really are back, this will be the test.
1 - Green Bay over ATLANTA – Is Jordan Love for real or did he just play the Bears? Let’s find out!
Folk, give yourselves a round of applause! We all did it!!
We have all gotten through the pain and torment that is the annual six to seven month period of our lives that does NOT include football!
Yes, we got a small taste of football with a full college schedule this past weekend. But, I mean, come on! There’s nothing like a full Sunday of the NFL.
I don’t know about you, but I’d say that it’s been LONG enough, let’s get back at it!
Week 1 – HERE WE GO!!!!
(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)
16 – BALTIMORE over Houston – This will be the first of many Sunday’s Texans’ fans will be repeatedly telling themselves, “we’re rebuilding…we’re rebuilding…we’re rebuilding…”
15 – MINNESOTA over Tampa Bay – It seems like all of the NFC North hype has gone to Detroit and Chicago. I think the Vikings sends a bit of a reminder to the league this week.
14 – WASHINGTON over Arizona – Here something that won’t be a surprise to anyone in Glendale, apparently. My first BOLD PREDICTION of the season is that when the season ends, THE CARDINALS WILL BE ON THE CLOCK AFTER WINNING NO MORE THAN
TWO GAMES.
13 – SEATTLE over Los Angeles Rams – Cooper Kupp or no Cooper Kupp, what has happened to the Rams over the last couple of years?
12 – NEW ORLEANS over Tennessee – On behalf of the Raider Nation … we miss you, Derek :’(
11 – KANSAS CITY over Detroit – There’s something about this that makes me want to pick the Lions, but even with the Kelce uncertainty, its still the Chiefs.
10 – Cincinnati over CLEVELAND – If Burrow ends up not playing, feel free to drop this one a few lines, but still pick the Bengals.
9 – Jacksonville over INDIANAPOLIS – The Jags have gone from a laughing stock to being one of the more exciting teams in the league in just a couple years…gives me hope as a Raiders fan!
8 – Philadelphia over NEW ENGLAND – The dominant Eagles defense from a year ago got better…that’s scary!
7 – CHICAGO over Green Bay – Soak it in Bears fans, this is the season that you have been waiting for when dealing with your northern counterparts.
6 – NEW YORK GIANTS over Dallas – People overlooked the Giants last season – don’t make the same mistake again this season.
5 – Buffalo over NEW YORK JETS – I refuse to get caught up in the Hard Knocks hype and pick the Jets against a far superior opponent.
4 – ATLANTA over Carolina – The NFC South should be fun to watch this year … not good … but fun.
3 – San Francisco over PITTSBURGH – Kenny Pickett still has to show me something before I pick him to beat the 49ers in the potential Game of the Week.
2 – LOS ANGELES CHARGERS over Miami – Potential playoff matchup in week 1 that the Chargers win simply because they are the home team.
1 – Las Vegas over DENVER – The Russell Wilson trade last season proved to be overrated for the Broncos last season…expect the same from the Sean Payton hire this season.
