Chicagoland native recently relocated to San Diego, California. Been out here since February 2015 and have come to the conclusion that the west coast time zone is amazing for sports fans! No game is too late. I envision the perfect football season ahead: waking up by 10am, start sippin on bloodies on the couch, planted drinking IPA's by the Sunday night game and passed out by 9:30 with plenty of rest for Monday!
Last week, we finally had some upsets in the NFL, and 568 entrants were eliminated from the pool. I gave you an easy winner last week with the Chargers, who stomped out the Dolphins like everyone else has this year. But alas, this week the Dolphins are on bye, so I'm going to have to really put on my thinking cap to pick this week's winner.
Looking at the schedule I was inclined to pick the undefeated 49ers against the Cleveland Browns at home, but I just don't know which one of those teams is for real and which one’s a pretender yet, so I'm going to skip that one. After seeing I've already used some of the biggest favorites of the week, I decided to go out on a limb a little bit and pick the Minnesota Vikings.
There's been a lot of drama and shit talking regarding their terrible quarterback Kirk Cousins, but I think that it just motivated guys like Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen to really go off this week and put a whooping on a resurgent Giants team. Danny Dimes is looking good so far, but the Vikings defense is fierce and I think the Vikings will win this game. Plus, one Golden Tate minus one Saquon Barkley equals negative Saquon Barkley's. That pretty much sums up how I feel the Giants are performing this game.
On a final note, I would like to add a suggestion. Stefon Diggs should to request a trade destination like either the New England Patriots or the Kansas City Chiefs. My fantasy teams would really enjoy that. This article was written while driving to Sequoia National Park for a camping weekend so I hope it's plenty coherent and enjoyable enough and that the pic is a good one. Have a good weekend everybody.
With the NFL season yet to see a significant upset, there still remains 1065 of the 1499 members surviving in the pool. Last week we just squeaked out a victory when the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Miami Dolphins 31-6.
I think I am seeing a trend developing here, and will be picking the San Diego Chargers of Los Angeles to defeat the woeful Dolphins this week. Hey, if it were not for teams playing divisional opponents twice a year, you could pick against Miami every week and you'd be right. This game checks off a couple boxes for me, resulting in the pick.
First, the Chargers are the biggest favorite of the week at -14.5, which they will cover. You also have a desperate Charger team that has let two games slip away that they should have won. Much like the Eagles last night, the Chargers will be heavily motivated for a good showing for fear of falling to 1-3 and getting left in the dust of the Chiefs who are looking to go 4-0.
Philip Rivers has too much pride to be part of the franchise that loses to two 1-15 teams in his career and will look to reignite the Charger Super Bowl hype. Lucky for me, this will be one of the local games for the San Diego market so I will get to witness first hand just how bad the Dolphins are.
Godspeed Mr. Rosen.
This weeks pick is the Dallas Cowboys over the Miami Dolphins. This Dolphins team is historically bad and the boys are a trendy super bowl pick from the NFC. The Cowboys are a team I don't always trust to beat the better teams so i'm using them early here against a very bad team.
As far as last week I led you astray a bit with the Panthers. It came down to the final drive, but unfortunately I wasn't calling the plays and Cam Newton did not dive over the center for the TD. Instead the bucs perimeter defensed held. After watching that game it was clear Cam couldn't throw, so it was infuriating to see him in the game if he wasn't also going to do what he's best at, lowering his shoulder and picking up yards with his legs.
Whelp, just sat down Thursday morning to look over the slate of games coming up this week and holy
shit! I need to pick the Panthers who play tonight! Now, I generally try to avoid the Thursday night games
because they have proven to be quite chaotic, but I liked the way the Panthers played the Rams last week
and think that defense should have a field day with Jameis Winston in their house. Jameis must have wax
in his ears, because he has not heard the whispers from Bruce Arians as was apparent from his 3
interception, 55% completion percentage performance against the Niners.
Week 1 didn't really have any big upsets, so only 152 of the original 1499 entrants were taken down.
Shockingly, the biggest party pooper was the Cleveland shit Browns, that had 77 people drinking the
kool-aid, followed by 25 lost to the Bears opening night. Predictably the majority of the picks went to the
two biggest home favorites Seattle and Philadelphia. (apparently they all read this column)
The lock pick this week is the Patriots favored by 19 against the tanking Dolphins. I used them for one of
my picks and it just feels dirty. I am curious to see if they are the top pick this week as per usual with the
largest favorite or if people will think that is a waste of the Patriots to pick against Miami.
