Fantasy football strategy, rankings, and podcasts

Welcome back to the article geared to help you break the bank at FanDuel. This week I'm investing on a game in Philadelphia to provide buku fantasy points, targeting a bargain barrel WR and using those savings to splurge on some high dollar talent poised for a breakout week. QB  - Tony Romo, DAL - $8,500 at PHI:  In what should be the highest scoring game of the week I'm betting on Romo to put monster numbers. Dez Bryant may be out, but there are still enough weapons on the Dallas roster to get the job done. Expect big chunks of yards thrown to Terrance Williams and Jason Witten to collect on a couple TD tosses.

RB - Matt Forte, CHI - $8,900 vs. ARI:  Going a bit on the expensive side here, but with Forte's track record, he is worth every dollar. The Bears realize their offense must run through Forte, and that may be the case even more with news that Alshon Jeffery missed practice Friday with a hamstring injury. Expect high volume touches for Forte in both the running and passing game.

RB - Carlos Hyde, SF - $7,000 at PIT:  We witnessed the coming of Carlos Hyde last week after he put up 168 yards on 26 carries and 2 TDs on the ground adding another 2 catches for 14 yards. With the combination of  the Niners passing game being non-existent and with Reggie Bush already ruled out for week 2 Hyde will repeat on the high volume of touches.  Amazing value for the price tag this week.

WR - Jordan Matthews, PHI - $7,000 vs. DAL:  This is primarily a combo play to Romo/Witten with the expectation of a high scoring affair. Matthews should exceed his performance from last week where he had 10 catches on 12 targets for 102 yards and should have had a touchdown that Chip Kelly opted not to challenge

WR - Calvin Johnson, DET - $8,100 at MIN:  Johnson had an abysmal week 1 catching only 2 balls for 39 yards on 4 targets in a losing effort. I fully expect the Lions to force feed the ball to Johnson this week giving him plenty of opportunities to get in the end zone.

WR - Pierre Garcon, WAS - $5,400 vs. STL:  With DeSean Jackson sidelined for 2-3 weeks with a hamstring injury Garcon will slide into the #1 receiver role. This is a position he thrived in prior to the Redskins acquisition of Jackson. I'd expect double digit targets to Garcon with a few of them being in the red zone. Very cheap price for the value.

TE - Jason Witten, DAL - $6,000 at PHI:  Witten was already slated to see an increase in targets this season after the departure of DeMarco Murray. Now with Dez Bryant sidelined he will be leaned upon even more. Expect quality red zone and 3rd down conversion looks to Witten in a high scoring affair against Philly this week.

K - Josh Brown, NYG - $4,500 vs. ATL:  Partially riding the Josh Brown train after his 17 fantasy points in week 1, but also expecting a decent amount of points to go around in this matchup against the Falcons. Looks like the best kicker available for the minimum price.

DEF - Titans, TEN - $4,600 at CLE:  The Titans defense are coming off a strong effort in week 1 and have a great match up this week against the turnover prone Johnny Manziel and the Browns inept offense. Not to mention the great Dick LeBeau is involved in the defensive scheme.

Welcome to another week of fantasy football investment advice geared to help you win it big in DFS. Last week was pretty rough going as injuries knocked out a few of our guys mid-game to limit their fantasy production so hopefully we can avoid the big injuries this week. Speaking of this week, I'll be taking the bulk of my risk on an insanely cheap backup QB turned starter and using the savings to target a few big names.

QB  - Luke McCown, NO - $5,200 at CAR:  It was announced today that Drew Brees will sit out week 3 with his bruised rotator cuff which opens the door for McCown to show the Saints he can play outside of practice. This pick is primarily for the price to afford better position players for the rest of the roster, but McCown is also an unknown so we could get a surprise and end up with more value here than expected.

RB - Carlos Hyde, SF - $7,800 at ARI:  Hyde was one of the aforementioned injured players from my lineup in week 2 where he didn't play the entire second half. Before getting injured he was on pace for 26 carries and 100 yards last week which would've matched his carries from week 1. I expect heavy touches from Hyde this week with Reggie Bush sidelines again. Matchup looks good on paper too as Arizona is giving up the 7th most fantasy points to opposing RBs.

RB - Justin Forsett, BAL - $7,200 vs. CIN:  Forsett has been under performing from his numbers last year, but a home game against a Bengals defense giving up the second most fantasy points on the ground thus far is just what he needs to get back on track. It looks like Lorenzo Taliaferro may not play or be limited this week as well which could mean more goal line looks for Forsett as well.

WR - Antonio Brown, PIT - $9,300 at STL:  This is the number 1 reason for taking the cheap value at QB, to be able to afford the hands down best WR option any given week. Brown is coming off a 195 yard performance on 9 catches with a touchdown and a 2 point conversion last week which he could easily replicate.

WR - Julio Jones, ATL - $9,000 at DAL:  This would be the number 1a reason for taking the cheap value at QB. Julio Jones has dominated all season and it looks like Atlanta wants to feed him the ball as the only WR with more targets through 2 weeks is Julian Edelman. With Tevin Coleman out this week I expect Atlanta to lean on the pass even more.

WR - James Jones, GB - $5,700 vs. KC:  Since Jones has been reunited with Green Bay he's done nothing but score TDs. He may be a risky play since he hasn't been getting many targets, but the ones he does get are quality in the red zone. There is also an outside chance Davante Adams will either not play or be limited this week due to an ankle injury so Jones could see an uptick in targets.

TE - Tyler Eifert, CIN - $5,900 at BAL: It looks as if Eifert has established himself as the number 2 passing option in Cincinnati and through 2 weeks has had the second most targets among TEs just behind Gronkowski. The Ravens have been good at stopping the run this year so expect Dalton to have to air it out frequently.

K - Nick Folk, NYJ - $4,600 vs. PHI:  Kickers aren't interesting, especially choosing bottom barrel kickers. Philly is giving up the 4th most fantasy points to opposing kickers for whatever that is worth though.

DEF - Seahawks, SEA - $5,300 vs. CHI:  This game should be an absolute bloodbath in favor of Seattle. Chicago is forced to start Jimmy Clausen at QB and will also be without Alshon Jeffery. Expect Seattle to hold the Bears to little or no points as well as to record a few turnovers.

So,last week was pretty rough thanks to two RB dud performances from both Forsett and Hyde as well as an Eifert goose egg; but we will move on to bigger and better things in week 4. This week there are a lot of value plays due to injured starters, which we will plug in to be able to afford some top tier talent. Good luck this week gamblers!

QB  - Andy Dalton, CIN - $7,600 vs. KC:  Coming off 383 yard 3 TD performance, Dalton gets now gets a home game against a Chiefs defense that has given up the most fantasy points to opposing QB's thus far this year. Expect Dalton to continue to roll.

RB - Jamaal Charles, KC - $8,700 vs. CIN:  Charles has been consistently putting up points all season, never recording less than 16 in a game - mostly due to the large amount of red zone touches he receives. Look for the Chiefs to lean heavily on their best player again this week.

RB - Karlos Williams, BUF - $6,300 vs. NYG:  LeSean McCoy has been ruled out this week with a hamstring injury which means Karlos Williams will get every down back duties. Perfect play this week for high volume at a low price tag.

WR - A.J. Green, CIN - $8,400 vs. KC:  Green erupted in week 3 posting 227 yards and 2 TDs against the Ravens. He gets an even better matchup this week against a shaky KC pass defense and is a great combo play to go with Dalton.

WR - Larry Fitzgerald, ARI - $7,400 vs. STL:  Fitzgerald has had his way with teams lately, scoring 5 TDs over the past 2 games. A bit of a tougher matchup this week with a home matchup against the Rams, but I expect another strong performance.

WR - James Jones, GB - $6,000 at SF:  It looks like Davante Adams will miss this week after reinjuring his ankle, which should mean an expanded role for Jones. Great matchup this week as SF has been giving up the 5th most fantasy points to opposing WRs this year.

TE - Greg Olsen, CAR - $6,300 at TB: The Panthers don't seem to have any other weapon in their passing game this year besides Olsen, so he should be a legitimate play almost every week. With Jonathan Stewart questionable this week it could mean even more targets going Olsen's way.

K - Robbie Gould, CHI - $4,600 vs. OAK:  Looking for a bounce back game for Gould after the Bears were shut out in Seattle. Forte should at least be able to move the team into field goal range a few times at home against the Raiders.

DEF - Broncos, DEN - $4,700 vs. MIN:  Rolling with the defense that is averaging the most fantasy points per game.

Welcome back to another week geared towards cashing in on that huge pay day. Last week we had a decent lineup with every position getting into double digits, besides an under performing Greg Olsen (at least he's on bye this week so he doesn't have the chance to screw things up again). Looking ahead to this week we are investing in a QB/TE pairing to come through and playing a bargain basement RB to help us afford the finer things in life.

QB  - Alex Smith, KC - $6,900 vs. CHI:  Coming off a career high in yardage against Cincinnati, Smith now gets a home matchup against a weak Bears defense. This game has potential for a high scoring affair, which should add a higher point ceiling to Smith's already consistent floor.

RB - Le'Veon Bell, PIT - $9,000 at SD:  This is the dream play of the week. With Roethlisberger still sidelined, Pittsburgh will be utilizing Bell heavily in the run game and with check downs. It doesn't hurt that the Chargers are giving up a league worst 4.9 yards per carry to opposing running backs so far this year.

RB - Anthony Dixon, BUF - $4,500 at TEN:  The value is too good to pass up being able to play a starting running back for the minimum price in a decent matchup. Not expecting Boobie to break off huge chunks of yardage, but he will get a high volume of carries as well as all goal line work.

WR - Julio Jones, ATL - $9,200 vs. WAS:  Julio didn't get many opportunities in a blow out game against the Texans in week 4 but he gets a nice matchup at home against the Redskins. Look for Atlanta to air the ball out frequently to avoid a Washington run defense giving up the second fewest yards per game this season.

WR - Larry Fitzgerald, ARI - $7,400 at DET:  While Fitzgerald didn't find his way into the end zone last week, he still put up 7 catches for 99 yards against a tough Rams defense. He has a much better matchup this week against a Detroit defense giving up almost 300 yards per game to opposing receivers.

WR - James Jones, GB - $6,400 vs. STL:  It looks like Davante Adams will be missing another week with his ankle injury, which means Jones will once again provide great value at his low price tag. Possibly a tough matchup in this one, but betting on the Green Bay passing game in Lambeau is never a bad thing.

TE - Travis Kelce, KC - $6,500 vs. CHI:  Purely a pairing play to Alex Smith, albeit with one of the top tight ends in the game.  Feels like a thunderstorm is brewing...

K - Stephen Gostkowski, NE - $5,000 vs. DAL:  Why not go with the kicker averaging the most fantasy points per game the past 3 years in a row?

DEF - Broncos, DEN - $5,000 vs. OAK:  Expecting the Denver defense to capitalize on a few Oakland mistakes and make their way into the end zone this week.
