A just above .500 week last week takes us to the final week of the season!
We’ve had a solid year and I’m sure you’re sad to see it go – just like I am!
But we’re not done just yet! We have one more week to make that final push to win your season long pool. I hope I have helped you out this year! If so, please contact me and I’ll let you know how to send me my cut from your winnings! ;) Just kidding!
Happy Holidays everyone!!
WEEK 17!! HERE WE GO!!!
(HOME TEAM IN CAPS)
16 – DENVER over Oakland – The Raiders are on the cusp of turning the corner…they’ll just have one more Bronco beat-down to take before another off-season of change. This may be nothing more than a hopeful fan, but my BOLD PREDICTION to end 2014 is that the Raiders will have a .500 or better record in 2015.
15 – MIAMI over New York Jets – Miami had one of the more surprising seasons in the league this year and should have no problem ending it with an exclamation point and send Rex Ryan to the unemployment line.
14 – SEATTLE over St. Louis – No team has risen to the top faster than the defending champs. After a start that had some, including me, questioning their playoff chances, they should be able to lock up home field advantage with a win this week.
13 – NEW ENGLAND over Buffalo – In the first few weeks of the season I predicted that the Bills would make the playoffs and the Patriots dynasty was done…well this game should pretty much sum up how wrong I was on both fronts.
12 – Indianapolis over TENNESSEE – The Colts need to get things back in order before the playoffs start. Look for them to take out some aggression on the lowly Titans.
11 – BALTIMORE over Cleveland – The Ravens still have a chance to make the playoffs this year and should be able to do their part and beat the Johnny Football-less Browns.
10 – New Orleans over TAMPA BAY – Don’t worry Bucs’ fans! After that pesky little Super Bowl thing is over, YOU will be the NFL’s #1! … in the draft. You are now on the clock.
9 – MINNESOTA over Chicago – Teddy Bridgewater has shown that he could be a top quarterback in this league sooner rather than later. This week he will learn about how NOT to be an NFL quarterback as Jay Cutler is back under center for the Bears.
8 – GREEN BAY over Detroit – The NFC North comes down to this. A first round bye and a home playoff game is likely on the line. There aren’t too many teams that I have more faith in when playing at home than the Packers right now.
7 – HOUSTON over Jacksonville – Houston is still fighting for their playoff lives. They need help that I don’t think they’ll get but they still should be able to do their part.
6 – PITTSBURGH over Cincinnati – The best division in football this year comes down to week 17 where the Steelers, who have been one of the hottest teams to end the year, should be able to take care of a Bengals team that still seems to have some problems winning a big game.
5 – Dallas over WASHINGTON – The Cowboys should be able to put the 2014 Redskins out of their misery and usher them to the off-season quickly and quietly.
4 – ATLANTA over Carolina – The NFC South champion and 7-win play-off team will be decided here…that’s really all the effort this game deserves.
3 – KANSAS CITY over San Diego – The Chargers hold their play-off destiny in their hands. Unfortunately that destiny is in Arrowhead right now – not a place you want to HAVE to win a game.
2 – NEW YORK GIANTS over Philadelphia – The Eagles were prime to make a run to the Super Bowl, they just ran out of gas a few weeks too soon.
1 – SAN FRANCISCO over Arizona – Congrats Jim! Now wave good-bye – we’ll see you next year in Ann Arbor.
Welcome back!
We had another strong week in week 5. This week will be a lot more difficult. We have several evenly matched games including a few instances in which an undefeated team could taste defeat for the first time. No time to waste, the new week is just around the corner!
Week 6 – HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!
(HOME TEAM IN ALL CAPS)
14 – GREEN BAY over San Diego – Apparently Aaron Rodgers is human! I can very easily see him doing what he can this week to make us all remember that he is indeed not human.
13 – New England over INDIANAPOLIS – The Pats are playing like they are mad at the world and now they are playing the team that was the cause of it all…and they’re struggling. Bill Belichick could make this turn out to be as ugly as…well…Bill Belichick.
12 – MINNESOTA over Kansas City – It has been a rough start to the season for the Chiefs, and it just got a whole lot worse with another Jamaal Charles injury. It won’t get any easier against a well-rested Adrian Peterson.
11 – NEW YORK JETS over Washington – Kirk Cousins will have to win this game with his arm since the running game is non-existent. That won’t work too well against the Jets secondary.
10 – TENNESSEE over Miami – This game will be hard to watch. Miami is in the middle of an overhaul…not something that should be happening in the middle of the season.
9 – SEATTLE over Carolina – The rough schedule continues for the two-time defending NFC champs as they get another undefeated team. They should be able to hand the Panthers their first loss at home this week.
8 – Denver over CLEVELAND – Call it fantasy football stubbornness, but I think this is the week that Peyton comes out of his funk. That could be bad news for the Browns.
7 – Atlanta over NEW ORLEANS – The week starts off on Thursday in the SuperDome. Devonta Freeman has taken the league by storm and should be able to continue his dominance against the now lowly Saints.
6 – PHILADELPHIA over New York Giants – The battle for the top of the NFC Lease comes to Monday Night. The Eagles might have things figured out on offense. Now they get the national stage to confirm it.
5 – DETROIT over Chicago – Everything seems to be going downhill for the Lions. In order to avoid the cellar of the league, they NEED this game.
4 – Houston over JACKSONVILLE – Blake Bortles had an amazing week last Sunday in Tampa…but that was against Tampa. Arian Foster should have his official return game against the Jags defense. Jacksonville allowed Doug Martin to have a monster game last week, which leads me to this week’s BOLD PREDICTION that ARIAN FOSTER WILL HAVE OVER 250 TOTAL YARDS.
3 – Arizona over Pittsburgh – Welcome back to dominance, Arizona! Big Ben could be back soon, but another week of Michael Vick won’t be enough to beat the Cards.
2 – SAN FRANCISCO over Baltimore – If Jim Harbaugh was still in San Francisco, the Harbaugh Bowl matchup would make this game interesting. But he’s not…so it’s not. The 9ers are at home so there you go.
1 – BUFFALO over Cincinnati – Potentially the game of the week. The Bengals are undefeated for a reason but a trip to Buffalo could very well end that.
A wise man whose face is painted with neon colors first then black and white later has said, “the only thing that is for sure is that nothing is for sure.”
It seems like this is the theme for every week 3 – teams look amazing or terrible in week 1 and the look like a completely different team in week 2. The same holds true for this season as well.
Hey, it’s football…that’s what keeps things exciting!
Week 3 – HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!!
(HOME TEAM IN ALL CAPS)
16 – DALLAS over Chicago – Have…have you seen the Bears this season? Now they’re even losing several players. This week’s BOLD PREDICTION is that THE BEARS WILL HAVE THE FIRST PICK IN NEXT YEAR’S DRAFT.
15 – INDIANAPOLIS over San Diego – You can’t have a home game against the Jaguars every week, Chargers!
14 – SEATTLE over San Francisco – Barely winning against the Dolphins and losing to the Rams? Still not enough to make me lose faith in the Seahawks at home against the 9ers.
13 – TAMPA BAY over Los Angeles – I expect Jameis Winston to just light up the Rams’ defense.
12 – MIAMI over Cleveland – Nearly pulling off wins in Seattle and Foxboro are enough for me to throw the Fins a bone and give them a high number this week. That, and hosting the Josh McCown-less Browns…that also helps.
11 – GREEN BAY over Detroit – A home opener against the Lions should be the cure for what’s ailing the Packer’s offense
10 – CAROLINA over Minnesota – What a difference one knee will make for the Vikings!
9 – Arizona over BUFFALO – The Bills put up 31 points with their biggest offensive weapons fighting an injury…might as well fire the offensive coordinator! #Nepotism
8 – NEW YORK GIANTS over Washington – The Redskins looked promising coming off an improbable division championship…not so much this season.
7 – KANSAS CITY over New York Jets – This should be a good game but the Chiefs are too tough in Arrowhead.
6 – NEW ORLEANS over Atlanta – The home team comes out on top of this “Hey remember when we dominated this division” Bowl.
5 – CINCINNATI over Denver – Another playoff preview that will end up going to the home team.
4 – Oakland over TENNESSEE – The Raiders have given two exciting games so far. Expect another one this week.
3 – Houston over NEW ENGLAND – I’ll finish writing the prediction for this game unless I get a call to be the Patriots quarterback in which case I will have t…
2 – JACKSONVILLE over Baltimore – Jacksonville needs to win this one to salvage any of the summer hype!
1 – PHILADELPHIA over Pittsburgh – The Keystone Bowl actually won’t be one-sided. If Carson Wentz pulls this off with how good the Steelers have been looking, I will indeed be a believer!
Well, every week can’t be perfect!
Last week proved to be quite the unpredictable week. Luckily though, if you went with our picks, you may have still scored enough points to pull off the win. Now we are getting into the bye weeks. This means that the highest number lines are unavailable (no 16 point line this week).
This makes every game in this stretch of the season critical, especially if you are looking to do some climbing in your season pool. We have been doing pretty well so far this year, let’s just keep it rolling!
Week 4 – HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!!
(HOME TEAM IN ALL CAPS)
15 – NEW ENGLAND over Buffalo – Everything that the Patriots have done so far this season has been without Tom Brady…just think about that.
14 – CINCINNATI over Miami – The Bengals look like they will be keeping us on our toes all season. A primetime home game against the Dolphins shouldn’t need too much second guessing…right?
13 – HOUSTON over Tennessee – No JJ Watt? No problem. The Titans defense would be able to contain the Texans offense enough here.
12 – WASHINGTON over Cleveland – The ‘Skins finally showed some signs of life last week. Even in defeat, my BOLD PREDICTION is that TERRELLE PRYOR WILL ECLIPSE THE 100 YARD RECEIVING MARK.
11 – ARIZONA over Los Angeles – Seriously Cardinals? Seriously?
10 – MINNESOTA over New York Giants – The Vikings seem to be pretty resilient this season. Hard to see them losing at home to an up and down team like the Giants.
9 – Dallas over SAN FRANCISCO – If Dez doesn’t play, Dallas should still win, but drop them down a few lines.
8 – PITTSBURGH over Kansas City – I expect a very angry Steeler team to let out some aggression this week after such an embarrassing inter-state loss.
7 – Detroit over CHICAGO – Do you realize that the Bears have only won one game at Soldier Field in the last calendar year?
6 – NEW YORK JETS over Seattle – Look for the Jets to be more careful with the ball this week.
5 – Carolina over ATLANTA – The Falcons are the only team that I have not predicted a game correctly yet this season…so take this pick for what its worth.
4 – BALTIMORE over Oakland – The Raiders have proven to be too unpredictable this season to feel confident in them winning in Baltimore.
3 – JACKSONVILLE over Indianapolis – The Colts needed a 4th quarter comeback to win a home game against the Chargers … … … the CHARGERS!
2 – SAN DIEGO over New Orleans – Seems like just yesterday this game would seem more important.
1 – TAMPA BAY over Denver – Maybe its because it’s a cross country game, maybe it’s because the mighty Broncos have been traveling a lot lately. But let’s just call it like it is…this is just a hunch.
