9/09/14, Who is Allen Hurns and Other Great Questions
Oh sweet relief. Football is actually back for real this time. Not just preseason games, not just one measly Thursday night game, but a full slate of 16 games. I went 5-2 (just a small brag), I hope you all had a good week too. Tonight we had a few bombers that Dave won in our first annual Chili Cook-off. Two Brothers Heavier Handed (a variation of Heavy Handed) and at the end of the show we cracked the Flannel Pajamas Stout from Begyle Brewing.
We talked about Rookie WR's - we were impressed by Kelvin Benjamin and Brandin Cooks, and everyone was surprised by Allen Hurns. We broke down some of the big guys who remained on top of their game, like Calvin Johnson and Antonio Brown. We basically brown down most of the week (including some Ray Rice stuff) and previewed a few games coming up in week 2.
11/04/14, In which Mark Sanchez is a relevant fantasy player
This week we started off the show with a few beers and toasted Ben Roethlisberger's new record of 12 TD's in just two games. Jeremy Hill and Mark Sanchez were also topics, as were Terrance West, the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals, all big winners in week 9. Now let's move on to the trends.
We drank for the trends we predicted last week and picked a few new ones for next week. For week 10, we've got: Russell Wilson will score over 18 and resume his proper fantasy output, we both agree. Emmanuel Sanders will continue to do well, 15 pts or more. Kelvin Benjamin stays relevant and scores 8 or more points. Alfred Morris will score a solid 14 points or more, we both agree. Branden Oliver will continue his struggles and is basically irrelevant at this point. Zach Ertz is the only player we disagree on, Dave going under 5 points and Jason taking 5 or more.
Because this is the drinkfive podcast, we can't just stop there when it comes to bets. Beers for next week's show will rest upon the performances of Heath Miller for Dave and Zach Ertz for Jason. We've also decided to bet Portillo's with Dave taking the Miami DST and Jason taking the Lions DST. All points are determined via standard scoring.
We're back to fantasy football, baby! Tonight marks the 2015 return of fantasy football talk on the drinkfive network. We've got a lot of moves to catch up with, and we managed to stop off with nearly every team and at least talk about who they gained and who they lost. Since it was St Paddy's day, we also enjoyed some Irish Whiskey and toasted to drinkfive writer Troy Maples, happy birthday buddy!
Fantasy Football Podcast - March 17 - Around the NFL, 2015 Rosters!
We'll be back next week with another retrospectical episode. We'll be talking about all things bacon, and in two weeks we'll be discussing digital currencies (ya know, like bitcoin or dogecoin). We'll check back in on the fantasy football radar around the NFL draft and bring our rookie expert Shawn Foss (@shawn_foss) on to tell us who to look out for.
Feel that tingling sensation? It's just below your neck, next to your shoulder, you can barely reach it. It's the fantasy football itch! We've been without NFL games for over 3 months, and it's been almost 5 months since there's been any regular fantasy football leagues. It's time to talk fantasy football! This week we're joined by our resident Rookie Expert, Shawn Foss (@Shawn_Foss) and we discussed the brand new 2015 draft class.
Fantasy Football Podcast - May 13 - 2015 NFL Draft Class
Going by position, of course we started at the QB's, just like the NFL teams did. We broke down the possible fantasy impact from two top tier RB's drafted in the first half of the first round, much higher than any RB's have been taken in recent years. Finally, we dug through the incoming WR class. Mostly, we want to know if we'll be as impressed with the rookie WR's as we were last year!
